Microsoft recruits NIT-K student 65laks per annum


He has been offered a hefty pay packet of $ 1,50,000 per annum (Rs. 65 lakh)
Srinivas Balasubramanian, a B. Tech. graduate in Information Technology, who received his degree at the eighth convocation of the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, on Sunday has been offered a hefty pay packet of $ 1,50,000 per annum (Rs. 65 lakh) from the Microsoft.

Sandeep Sancheti, director of the NIT-K, said the job offer received by Mr. Balasubramanian was the highest ever offered to a student of the NIT-K.
Mr. Balasubramanian from Chennai is now pursuing his M. Tech. in Information Technology at the NIT-K. A student of M. Tech. first batch (2010-12), he will be completing the course in May 2012.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the convocation, Mr. Balasubramanian said he had been offered the job at Microsoft's headquarters at Redmond, United States. He said that he is planning to take up the job before July, 2012. The offer was made to him during a campus selection drive held in the first week of August, 2011.

He said: “The offer of $ 1,50,000 per annum made to me is cost to company,” he said.
Two years ago, he had received Rs. 9 lakh per annum job offer from Microsoft for a job in Hyderabad, he said.

Mr. Balasubramanian said that he would be into software development at Redmond and would be working with their Bing search engine team. He said that he was now involved in research into parallel computing in his M.Tech. course.
